Association for Computing Machinery
(ACM) is a world's leading organisation for computer-related
professionals with 80,000 members worldwild. The New Zealand Chapter of
ACM (ACM_NZ) aims to cater the needs of its membership
by not only providing a common platform for exchange of ideas but also
as a resource base fulfilling regional needs.
It is operated exclusively for educational and
scientific purposes within New Zealand to promote the following:
- To promote increased knowledge of and greater
interest in the science, design, development, construction, languages,
management and applications of modern computing.
- Greater interest in computing and its applications.
- A means of communication between persons having an
interest in computing.
The activities of this Chapter will include the
following:
- Collecting and disseminating information through a
website, expertise database, newsletter, and other publications.
- Sponsoring meetings, discussion groups, seminars, and
workshops.
- Working with other ACM units on activities such as
lectures, professional development seminars and technical briefings.
